TAM members were asked to fill out a Professional Development Survey at the 2016 Annual Meeting. The top three Professional Development topics as chosen by our Association members are:

A sub-committee for Professional Development Workshops will address the costs, locations, dates, and guest speakers for workshops based on these three choices.

Marianna Pegno is the Associate Curator of Education at the Tucson Museum of Art and is a doctoral candidate at the University of Arizona in Art History and Education. Her research explores connections between museum practice and postcolonial theory in order to position the museum as a multivocal institution. Having worked in museums for more than 8 years, she has experience in museum management, educational programming, and curatorial practice. In practice and research, Marianna aims to transform the museum into a community-centered institution that is responsive to the voices of its constituency.
Brooke McDonald, Co-Founder of LeadLocal, has a passion for initiating change and making a positive impact in her Tucson community and beyond. Brooke began her career path with Tucson Medical Center Foundation, where more than $1.2 million was raised through special events under her direction. In 2013, Brooke turned one of her dreams into a reality when she and Robin Breault launched LeadLocal, a think, learn and do tank that empowers young people, organizations and communities to develop innovation leadership through collaborative, project-based experiences. Believing that service is a way of life, Brooke is a board member of Tucson Young Professionals and leads the TYP Alliance. Brooke is also a co-founder of the Starbucks Career Café and a member of the Women’s Foundation of Southern Arizona Grants Allocation Committee. Brooke holds a B.S. in Health & Human Services Administration with a Minor in Psychology, at The University of Arizona.
Josh Schachter is an educator, visual storyteller and social ecologist. He is co-founder and director of CommunityShare, a new initiative working to re-imagine the role of local communities in education. Josh earned a master’s degree in environmental management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, where he explored the role of youth-produced media in supporting personal and community transformation. Over the past 17 years he has collaborated on community-based media projects with youth, teachers, neighborhood groups, and nonprofit organizations in places ranging from New Delhi to Nigeria.
